Obama guts Cubam Adjustment Act

One of the few things that Obama has done right is to effectively gut the
Cuban Adjustment Act. The CAA is a lot of the tension between the USA and
Cuba that has existed for long time.

When it comes to defectors under the wet foot/dry foot policy, the 22 year
policy of that has resulted in an incredible number of defections in sports.
While defectors have existed since the 1959 revolution, it has really ramped
up in the past 22 years, especially boxers, figure skaters, baseball
players, and gymnasts

In the 2012 and 2016 Olympics, there were Cuban-born gymnasts on the US
team. The best known of these is Aleandra Rosa Raissmann, who won team gold
with the US team in both years, and won the all around silver at the 2016
Rio Games, and is shooting, right now, for the 2020 Tokyo Games

Before that, at the 1996 Olympics, there was Cuban-born Amanda Bordon, who
was part of the Mag 7 gymnastics team that won the 1996 team gold.

The figure skaters that have defected, in the 22 years of this policy are
far too numerous to name here, but prominent names include dance couple
Belbin and Agosto, who were America's FIRST EVER dance couple to win a medal
at the Olympics.

visa. Those who do have a visa and arrive on US soil, still qualify for
instant permenent residency, and citizenship after a 1 year waiting period,
as that part is written into law and cannot be changed by any President.
